This exceptional 19th century prestige armlet was created by master metal workers of the Akan people of West Africa. Far more than ornament, such armlets were worn as powerful markers of rank, authority, and social distinction within Akan society. Their bold architectural form and finely worked surfaces speak to both technical mastery and symbolic meaning.

This example comes from the renowned collection of Egon Guenther the influential German collector whose carefully assembled holdings of African art were formed during the mid 20th century and are respected for their quality, authenticity, and early provenance.

A rare object where artistry, power, and history converge.
