This study collection comprises five small straight-pull corkscrews dating from approximately 1850 to 1920, illustrating the gradual development of one of the simplest and most enduring corkscrew mechanisms. The group includes two turned hardwood T-handles, a decorative brass T-handle, a cast iron three-finger pull, and a cast alloy T-handle, demonstrating changing manufacturing techniques from hand-crafted construction through to early industrial production.

Each corkscrew remains complete with its original worm and retains the characteristics expected from its period of manufacture. Surface wear, oxidation and handling marks are consistent with age and use. The worms remain straight and well formed, making the collection suitable for study, display and careful practical use where appropriate.
