A sterling silver scent corkscrew produced by Cohen & Nathan, hallmarked at the Birmingham assay office in 1912. This compact form was made for extracting the small corks used in perfume and toiletry bottles. The teardrop silver handle is mounted to a slender steel shaft with a finely formed worm, designed for delicate cork extraction rather than wine bottle use.

This exact form is documented in World Class Corkscrews (p.218), where an identical Cohen & Nathan example hallmarked Birmingham 1916 is illustrated. The present piece represents the same Edwardian vanity tool type, combining a sterling silver handle with a functional steel worm. The hallmarks remain clear and the worm retains good form with light age patina.
