Senufo Bronze Prestige Anklet For Sale – Lost-Wax Cast Currency Ornament, Côte d’Ivoire, Ex Egon Guenther Collection
Pickup currently not available
This cast bronze prestige anklet is attributed to the Senufo cultural region of northern Côte d’Ivoire and neighbouring Burkina Faso. Forms of this type, known among collectors as prestige anklets or anklet currency, served as personal adornment and indicators of status and wealth. The broad crescent-shaped form and decorative central band correspond with documented Senufo metalwork traditions.
The anklet was produced using the traditional lost-wax casting process and displays an aged surface patina, handling wear, and oxidation consistent with long-term use and age. The strong sculptural profile, decorative casting detail, and established provenance make it a desirable example for collectors of African art, ethnographic metalwork, and historical adornment.
