An Austrian hand-operated watchmaker’s crystal-cutting machine by Robert Pollak & Co. (Robert Pollak et Cie), Vienna, circa 1930. Bench-mounted by means of an integral cast-metal clamp, the machine incorporates a hand-cranked working disc and an adjustable tool assembly for the controlled cutting and shaping of watch crystals. Knurled controls and threaded adjustments permitted accurate positioning of the work, reflecting the specialised mechanical equipment employed at the traditional watchmakers bench.

The machine remains substantially complete, retaining its wooden crank handle, working disc, adjustable tool head and bench clamp. The metal surfaces show oxidation, finish loss, scratches and workshop wear consistent with age and use. The cast housing carries R.P.V., MARQUE DÉPOSÉE, PATENT and MADE IN AUSTRIA markings. The R.P.V. trademark is documented for Pollak Robert et Cie of Vienna, registered in 1929, supporting a circa 1930 date.
