A handmade fixed-blade knife by South African knifemaker Marius van der Vyver, retaining its original fitted presentation case, maker's certificate, guarantee card, and matching serial number 39NG. Produced in 1989, the knife features a K110 steel blade, German silver fittings, and scales of Dalbergia melanoxylon (African Blackwood), a timber valued by knife makers for its density and stability.
The blade bears the maker's mark together with the matching serial number recorded on the accompanying documentation. Preserved with its original paperwork and presentation case, the knife represents a documented example of late twentieth-century South African custom knifemaking and is of interest to collectors of handmade knives, edged tools, and maker-attributed craftsmanship.
