An early to mid-20th century French cast metal table cap lifter in the form of a duck’s head, marked “DUCKY – KIRKBY BEARD & Co. PARIS” to the underside plate. Produced by the Paris branch of the British firm Kirkby Beard & Co., the piece is cast in white metal with traces of original plating and fitted with a screwed steel lifting plate. The modelling is compact and restrained, with surface wear and oxidation consistent with age and use. This example was offered as Lot 152 in the Christie’s South Kensington Corkscrews sale, 21 May 2002, where it carried an estimate of €140–160, confirming its established position within specialist corkscrew and barware collecting circles
