An unusual double-action flynut frame corkscrew in nickel-plated steel, probably manufactured in France. The mechanism combines a pierced three-aperture upper handle, separate flynut, threaded lifting shaft, narrow open frame and shaped bottle-neck collar. The upper handle turns the solid worm into the cork; rotating the flynut against the frame then raises the shaft and extracts the cork. The design belongs to the broad family of French mechanical flynut corkscrews developed during the later nineteenth century, although no maker or specific patent attribution can presently be confirmed.

Complete and in good antique condition, with age-related surface wear, oxidation and losses to the nickel plating. The frame and threaded shaft are straight and aligned, while the solid worm remains complete with its point intact. Slight age-related play may be present in the threaded assembly.  Probably French.
