Dan-Attributed Copper-Alloy Bracelet, Côte d’Ivoire / Liberia, Early 20th Century

An open copper-alloy bracelet attributed to the Dan cultural region of Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia, dating to the early 20th century. The compact asymmetrical form incorporates expanded sculptural sections and distinctive pierced circular terminals. Comparable cast metal bracelets are documented in major museum collections under Dan and Dan/Guere cultural attributions.

Individually cast, probably by the lost-wax process, the bracelet retains irregular modelling and variations in section consistent with hand manufacture. The surface displays age-related wear and a naturally developed brown patina with localized green copper-alloy oxidation. Its documented descent from the Egon Guenther Collection adds an established provenance to this example of West African metal ornament.
