Antique German Monopol Universal D.R.G.M. Bell Corkscrew & Bottle Opener For Sale, c.1900–1925

The Monopol Universal is a German bell-type mechanical corkscrew incorporating a tapered frame and ball-bearing thrust mechanism beneath the handle. Marked MONOPOL, UNIVERSAL, D.R.G.M. and GERMANY, it represents an early twentieth-century development in mechanical extraction systems, combining corkscrew and bottle-opening functions within a compact and practical design. The mechanism operates by placing the bell over the bottle neck and rotating the handle to drive and extract the cork.
This example remains complete and presents well, retaining traces of its original nickel plating together with honest age-related wear and surface patina. The frame remains straight, the worm appears sharp and usable, and the mechanism remains functional. An attractive collector-grade example of a German mechanical corkscrew from the period.
