African Headrest (Attributed) Northern Kenya / Southern Ethiopia Late 19th–early 20th century
€180,00
Carved from a single piece of wood, this lightweight headrest features a gently curved saddle top supported by three sculptural legs. Such forms were used by East African pastoralist communities to protect hairstyles while resting. On stylistic grounds, it is attributed to the Borana Oromo people, though similar examples are also known among neighboring groups in northern Kenya, including the Samburu.
