Akan (Asante/Baule) bronze goldweight from Ghana/Côte d’Ivoire, cast by the lost-wax method. Dating to the 18th–19th century.
As described in Africa Adorned (Angela Fisher), small sculpted heads and mask forms were used as symbols of rank, ancestral presence, and spiritual protection, expressing the identity and prestige of the owner.
