Helice Frame Corkscrew with Fly Nut, Nickel-Plated Steel, J. Pérille, France, c.1900–1920
Pickup currently not available
A French Helice system frame corkscrew by J. Pérille, employing a screw-advance mechanism driven by a fixed transverse fly nut. The worm is advanced through the frame by rotation of the upper handle, while the collar bears on the bottle lip to provide controlled extraction. “Helice” is a registered trade name used on a range of Pérille production corkscrews following his late 19th-century patents, with this example representing a standard commercial form produced into the early 20th century.
Nickel plating shows consistent wear, spotting, and oxidation. The worm remains straight with a defined pitch and sharp tip. Frame and collar are structurally sound. Threads run smoothly with minor play typical for the type. Markings “HELICE JP DEPOSE” and “J. Perille DUSGDC” are legible. Fully functional.
