Cast copper-alloy bracelet or anklet currency, attributed to the Frafra/Gurunsi region of northern Ghana or the Lobi cultural area of Burkina Faso. The oval ring is lost-wax cast with raised ribbed bands, panelled terminals and worn geometric detailing. Objects of this type functioned as personal adornment, prestige metalwork and traditional exchange currency. Comparable Frafra/Gurunsi and Lobi-area cast brass or bronze anklets are recorded from Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Condition is good and age-appropriate, with visible handling wear, softened high points, oxidised recesses and an uneven brass/bronze patina. No moving parts, joints or mechanism. Structurally stable and suitable for display or specialist collection, not for wear.

Circa: late 19th to early 20th century.

Provenance: Egon Guenther Collection by inheritance to Thomas Guenther Collection, Netherlands.
