The British Flynut is a compact mechanical corkscrew developed from John Miller's 1943 patent, employing a floating upper handle that travels within a threaded lower body to provide controlled cork extraction. Manufactured in England from aluminium with a steel worm, it represents an innovative stage in the post-war evolution of mechanical corkscrews. This example is marked "Made in England – PAT. PEND. – REG. DESIGN No. 857383", identifying it as an early production version before later commercial variants.

This example remains in very good collector's condition. The aluminium body is straight with light age-related surface wear, the steel worm is clean and sharp, and the mechanism operates smoothly with no significant play. Suitable for both display and careful practical use.
