Flynut Cage Corkscrew “The Victor”, Steel, England, early 20th century
Pickup currently not available
An English flynut cage corkscrew marked “The Victor”, belonging to the direct pull mechanical family with traveling nut. The threaded central shaft is advanced by the upper flynut handle, driving the worm into the cork, while the lower frame collar rests on the bottle neck to provide counterforce during extraction. This type represents a mature and widely produced development of the late 19th-century cage corkscrew, prioritising controlled extraction without compound gearing.
The example is complete and mechanically sound. The frame remains straight, the threaded shaft runs cleanly, and the worm retains a defined point and usable profile. Surface shows even wear and oxidation consistent with age, with no structural faults. Moderate thread play typical for the type. Fully functional.
Circa: early 20th century.
