An ornate English counter-mounted bar corkscrew, prominently marked FARROW & JACKSON LTD · LONDON on the handle side and SAFETY on the reverse. Its cast-iron construction follows the Gilchrist 1894 patent type, employing a lever-operated bottle grip and speed worm intended for repeated commercial cork extraction. The frame is extensively decorated with raised hop, leaf and scroll ornament.

The corkscrew retains its principal mechanical components, wooden crank knob and aged surface finish. A historic structural crack is present in the casting adjacent to the upper pivot, as clearly illustrated. The mechanism should therefore not be operated under load and the piece is offered as a collector’s display example.
