Reginald John Turvey 1882 - 1968 "European Reminiscence "

A pivotal figure in early South African modernism, Turvey was trained at the Slade School of Art, exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, and worked between Europe and South Africa throughout his career.

His landscapes are atmospheric recollections rather than literal views, shaped by memory and expressive brushwork. His work was exhibited by the Egon Guenther Gallery in South Africa and included in retrospectives at the Pretoria Art Museum.
