Antique Baoulé Open Cuff Anklet – Lost-Wax Cast Brass Prestige Ornament, Côte d’Ivoire, West African Tribal ArtifactAnklet — Lost-Wax Cast Brass Alloy, Côte d’Ivoire, Egon Guenther Collection
This authentic Baoulé open cuff anklet from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) is a powerful example of West African lost-wax cast brass jewellery, created in the traditional cire perdue method. The bold hollow cast form and repeated geometric arc motifs reflect Baule aesthetics associated with ceremonial adornment and prestige display, designed to be worn as a statement of rank and personal wealth.
The naturally aged patina and sculptural weight support its identity as a collectible African tribal metalwork artefact, appropriate for collectors of Baule, Akan-influenced, and broader West African ethnographic jewellery.
