A concertina (accordion) frame corkscrew of the Armstrong patent family, featuring a compound double-lever mechanical expansion system. The rectangular scissor frame extends vertically via a central ring handle, transmitting force through articulated links to raise the cork. This design represents a late 19th-century development aimed at improving extraction efficiency over simple direct-pull worms, preceding more compact lever systems of the 20th century.

Nickel plating remains largely intact with visible wear and oxidation, particularly along the arms and pivots. The worm is straight, well-formed, and retains a usable point. Joints show moderate play consistent with age but remain structurally sound. The mechanism deploys and retracts correctly and is operational.
