Venetian Millefiori Trade Bead Necklace with Phenolic Amber Centre, Italy, Glass and Resin TG VNB 20
Pickup currently not available
A restrung necklace composed of antique Venetian glass trade beads, predominantly millefiori and mosaic types, assembled with a prominent phenolic amber centre bead and accompanied by a pair of matching bead earrings. Venetian trade beads were historically produced for export and exchange, widely circulating through Africa, Asia, and the Americas, where they became integrated into local adornment traditions.
The beads display varied colour palettes and cane-work typical of Venetian manufacture, dating broadly from the late 19th to early 20th century. The necklace has been later restrung for stability and wear, incorporating a modern clasp. Minor surface wear consistent with age is present across the beads. Such assemblages are actively collected for their historical role in global trade and the diversity of Venetian glassmaking techniques.
