The bowl bears the painted date \u003cstrong data-start=\"458\" data-end=\"466\"\u003e1850\u003c\/strong\u003e together with ownership initials to the rim. Such bowls were produced for domestic use and ceremonial drinking traditions and are characteristic examples of nineteenth-century Norwegian rural folk art. The painted decoration displays classic rosemaling motifs executed over a warm reddish ground with contrasting black, yellow, cream and blue-green elements.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"1366\"\u003eThe bowl remains structurally sound and retains its original painted surface with expected wear from age and use.
